Mount Rainier is Hyattsville's southern counterpart, a little closer to DC on Route 1. In fact, it borders DC's Eastern Avenue. College Park and the big box retailers immediately north in Beltsville can be accessed via Route 1. Bus routes along the main arteries are the closest the neighborhood comes to mass transit.
